My lacquer has deteriorated but I still like it. I feel good about the crown and case but would love input.

Nice example. I would be happy to own that one!

any one throw light on this model?
looking on this page I figured out its a 30T2SC, similar face to the us army one but the face numbers are vertical not arranged around the face, it has swiss6made at the bottom of the face, the numbers and hands are luminous except the second hand.
I measured the strap width as 18mm.
Not much history with the watch as I just inherited it from my father who got it after his Swedish neighbor died about 10 years ago along with a 1952 Tissot antimagnetique that is in very ratty condition and not working.
The Omega looks in almost as new condition and working perfectly with very light scuff marks and no stamping on the outer case.
I don't have the tools yet to take the back cover off and don't want to damage it trying to get the serial number.
I have seen several similar watches but none with these features.

Hejsa!

Yours is not a CK2179, but a ref. 2640 with a redial and relumed hands. These are extremely common in Sweden and are great watches - nice size, dependable movement 馃榾

think the 8 in the ser number is actually a 9, also on zooming into the case back there are lots of numbers engraved that I couldn't see with mk 1 eye ball- am assuming these are service marks from jewelers.

Value in Sweden? Around 1500-2000SEK, I'd say.

Try googling your reference number to find other examples of your watch to learn how the dial. could have looked.

have spent hours googling the style/serial number etc. but haven't seen a face like it except the US Army 30t02, not had any exposure to Omega watches before so just started the learning curve.
Thanks for all the help from you all, so very knowledgeable and a great resource of information.

Can you show a straight on shot of the watch face in high resolution so we can get a better look at the dial?

Well definitely a refinished dial and difficult to determine how the original dial looked originally.

*Remember there are Swedish cased examples of these watches made during WWII and assembled in Sweden ( my middle name is Ragnar so I have one).
Something seems off to me on this particular watch- the dial looks like its maybe been redone (?) , so if you havent checked the case for swedish markings, I would recommend it.

Are you thinking of the Suver盲n or Officer? I don't think I've heard anyone say that these were assembled in Sweden before now, or do you mean a different one? No Swedish marks except from caseback inscriptions as far as I know.

The OP did post pictures from inside the watch confirming 2640, by the way.

General Question on history of omega watches- were these watches expensive back in the 50/60s or on par with contemporary manufacturers?
