A little IWC cal. 89 eye-candy

I bought one when I got my first real pay raise at my first real job. I sold it in 2012 to fund a gold Connie... Never looked back.

Gold felt a bit thin, at least the Connie is so much heavier and clunkier.

It came with a somewhat tarnished dial (seen in pic 1 and 2), but I had purchased a nos dial separately and had it installed (seen in pic 3 and 4).

In pic 1 you can also see that the crown was wonky, that was because I dropped it onto the tiles. I truly am less dextrous than a mentally deficient ape.

I debated with myself whether this should go in the "High-End" watch forum, and decided that IWC probably shouldn't, though others might disagree. In any case, another of the wonderful photos from my collection which @Optimizer13 took a couple of weeks ago during a visit.

Make sure to click on the image for the high-resolution photo.
I am curious about these references. I have seen a few here and there for sale, but am having trouble tracking down variations. I am particularly interested in the steel or white gold model on the left. Can someone tell me the reference #, or the nickname of the watch. I am trying to track one down. Thanks for the help

Dibs on this one. So hard to find steel.

Noted. With a 1,045,xxx case serial and a 1,128,xxx movement serial it's an early example of the cal 89, which started production in 1946. The first cal 89 movement serial on record is 1,109,201

These are so classy. On the left is my 521 in red gold. On the left in yellow gold I don't know the reference!

I have a question: did iwc ever maked c89 with black dials? I'm not asking about military mark xi or the civilian type of it.
I've seen some with black dials, but a friend of mine told me that this is not genuine and have been redone.
P.s. This my iwc c89 - mark xi raf from '52😀

Lovely c89 Yacht Club - mine (which I wear daily) is the traditional c8541 version but as a keen collector of vintage IWC I am still looking for a nice gold c89 as a keeper. I particularly like cicindela's turn in lug model and Tony's is a a real cracker with the absence of Arabic numerals.

I am adding this only because I gamely referenced that I'd like an 18ct version on me day. Got this one last Sept (not a C89 though) - I may well have mentioned this in a separate post on the forum.

Typically got this and then thought, maybe a blue dialled version was a good idea. You know "close the loop" on the YC line so to speak.

So this one came up.

Needs a correct crown of course, but otherwise looks OK and will be in my son's carry on from London when he returns mid August.

Which brings me back to the OP's C89 theme. Where can I get a C89 version and truly stop collecting these damn things! [emoji23]

An early vintage acquisition. I still have a lot of affection for this one.
