The salesman told me it was becoming quite a desirable watch because of its history and being discontinued. I know he’s the salesman and that’s his job but is there any truth in what he says ? Also on the omega website this watch is called the moonwatch......is that really what it is ? And finally it’s quite confusing in regards to waterproof properties. The official site says water resistant to 10bar or 100meters. That reads to me that swimming or taking a bath would be fine. Am I correct in that assumption?

100m means 100 meters so swimming is ok and actually anything up to 100 meters is ok. ;)

Moonwatch is generally a manual wind.

( but everything seems to be a moonwatch nowadays  )

This model was discontinued more then a few years ago.

It’s speedmaster co axial. An automatic speedmaster that looks like the speedmaster professional which is the watch that went to the moon. While they look similar they are significantly different watches. The speedmaster professional is a handwound watch and is not going out of production.

3313 is a nice movement, I own a watch with one. These are not common, nor particularly sought after.

One major difference is that this 3313 model is 44mm rather than the 42mm of the 1861 Speedmaster. That and the date window which divides opinion as it isn’t universally popular. I think the salesman was spinning you bs to be honest. I too have a 3313 model, a 42mm model, and really love it but I don’t see there being much interest or demand in the 3313 movement pieces just yet.

Thanks for the help guys. The wording on the omega site is a little confusing as it talks about water resistant rather than water proof. If the watch will go to 100m depth I would say that is waterproof and not just resistant. I may still be a little nervous taking my first shower.....
One thing for sure though. The official Omega site refers to this watch as the moonwatch so that’s good enough for me..

There is no such thing as water proof as defined legeally to international standards.

Additionally it’s only resistant as it left the factory. If you snag a pusher you can loose all water resistance.

It’s just come back from having a full service at omega so I’m guessing they test them for water resistance?

Yes generally if it went to Omega it would be water tested. It’s recommended every year if your exposing it to water.

Personally I don’t swim with any chrono except my planet ocean. The risk of the pushers getting compromised is too high for me.
