Hi, I'm new to Omega and recently purchased this Geneve. I was wondering if anyone had any info on the green dial. I have seen other green dials, but they all seem to be sunburst. The case number and movement seem to be consistent with a 1973, but I cant find any examples like this one.
Ahh... a Seoul special. Lots of those keep appearing on eBay in the UK at the moment from a seller called LPSale... who claims they’re original.
I'm far from being an expert, but I'd suggest that the movement as a minimum needs a good clean and service. I also think that there is evidence that the rotor is rubbing on the caseback which should be addressed. As for the dial, it's very probably been refurbished/repainted. This is anathema to collectors, but as yours seems to have been done with at least some care and skill, rather than by some drunk with a sharpie and some modeller's paint, if you like the look of it, then wear it and enjoy it.
Worn without a gasket. Installing one may or may not solve the rubbing rotor. A watch only a colour blind guy could love! There was a thread a while back about “Your Ugliest Watch”. This would win, hands down!
