hey gang, I put a bid on a lot at Fellows for yesterday's auction, and the forgot about it thinking if lose out... so was a nice surprise to get an invoice today. Anyways, the bracelet is a little short for me, and I'd like to nab some links before it heads to STS for a cleanup, but for the life of me I can't work out what the bracelet is... and don't have the watch in hand yet. I don't think it's a 1040, the links look too curved for that. Any ideas?
Thinking maybe a 3011 with 518 end links which doesn't seem to be the most common bracelet on these...
Nice score! Are you sure it's an Omega bracelet? It doesn't look like one I've seen before, and those endlinks have no numbers. Their backsides don't look like 518s to me. Here's a 1040/518 from that popular auction site. No numbers on these endlinks either, so they may not be genuine either, but their shape looks more like Omega ones to me than those on the watch you posted.
I posted that one in 'recommended' Glad someone here got it I'm not into C-cases but those facets...congratulations!
I just looked at the 1040/518 on mine and the end links look nothing like either of the ones posted above, mine are clearly marked. I don't recognize OPs bracelet and have doubts its and Omega piece either.
End links and bracelet doesn't look Omegarish to me although it may be an Omega clasp transplant. I'm very interested to see what it is. We will all know in a day or two.
So here's a 3011 I found on a German forum, those rounded brick links look very similar... damn my impatience (and not take a picture when I went to the viewing... ).
Ahh. Gotcha. There appear to be at least 3 types... (518, 539, 733) holding judgement on what's fitted until it arrives
Here's what Omega told me when I was looking for some extra links for my "Bricks" bracelet on my Constellation 168.019:- "Regarding your OMEGA Constellation 168.019. We are still having links for this bracelet and also a new “old” bracelet is available for this model. The links and / or the bracelet can be ordered at our OMEGA Boutique in Hamburg. The reference of the link is 114ST3011 and the reference of the complete bracelet is 020ST3011518. I (the guy from Omega) also took some pictures of the replacement bracelet 020ST3011518:- For this bracelet we have all spare parts available and the attachment is the 518 like on your 1040 bracelet. I am sorry to say, that we are not able to send you any spares. For ordering this spare parts and for servicing your bracelet, you can contact our Boutique." Not sure if that helps much. It looks to me like the outermost links are oval rather than the older rounded off trapezoidal ones.
Some reference pics from my little collection (1040 plus 518 end links). The older bracelet side links seem to have a very slight bevel on the outer/upper edge which isn't present on the one mounted on the watch head.
That was my first thought when I saw your pics. I'm sure it will scrub up nicely, although I prefer the 1040 on this model. What size wrist do you have? If it's not too big maybe my spare bracelet would be an option.
I think including the watch head I'm around 7 3/4 inches... and I'm not even sure how long the bracelet fitted to this one is! Will let you know though... the 1040 is a lovely piece of engineering.
Hmmm. It was tight on my wrist at 7.5", so it's definitely going to be too short for you. I tried adding some extra links (hence the email to the Omega Service Centre), but the replacement links are absolutely flat sided/brushed which looks odd against the polished/rounded off links from the original '70s bracelet. If you want to give it a go anyway just let me know.
Watch arrived this morning, very happy! The condition report said the dial was marked, but under a loupe it looks like all the marks are on the crystal - which is nice. Bracelet is a 3011... unsure what the end links are.
