I've got a nice Elgin but I'm too drunk to photograph it! (rum night)
Give me a couple days and I'll get it on here, I swear!

Hey there Fritz I think our 922's were produced fairly close to each other, our 992's were likely produced the same day with the serials only 12 apart.

I'll throw in a model 1888 riverside too

Waltham Ball (complete with incorrect ratchet wheel)

Hamilton 992E

GADZOOKS! Twins! Those watches are in the original factory registers on the NAWCC site..... 1908 if I remember correctly.....

love the regulator on that Riverside!

shouldn't be hard to find a regulator for that 992, it was missing from my 992B and the local watchmaker had one in stock!

and a mainspring for the 992 now that I think of it..... amazing whats still out there.

Probably hand made by an old-school watchmaker at a crusty old bench!

I have a couple of them, just haven't put it in yet. And just for giggles there is this gem from Feb. 1949 Westclox Pocket Ben

It also has an incorrect dial (damnit) I'll eventually find the correct parts, but will be costly and I have other priorities at the moment.

Ok so the 290 grade isn't a very high grade South Bend movement, but this is an early one - from the first production run of only 900 pieces, made in 1903. Over the lifespan of the movement though there were 10,300 of them made. This particular watch belonged to my great grandfather.

May not be all that high of a grade, but it is a good watch all the same and precious as an heirloom. My great-granddad's Illinois is what originally got me interested in watches.
