I've got a nice Elgin but I'm too drunk to photograph it! (rum night)
Give me a couple days and I'll get it on here, I swear!
As promised, maybe not the highest quality compared to most of these, but 8 adjustments!!馃榾.

Sorry for the blurry hairspring, every time I touch this it starts running!
Got to service it soon, now the crown stem won't pull out to set hands so pardon the partially covered Elgin.

I can stare at this movement forever, a railroad grade 571.
B.W. Raymond was a former Chicago mayor and a founder of the National Watch Co.(1864), soon renamed the Elgin National Watch Co.

Here is a Howard movement I picked up from a gold scrapper. The movement has the balance/hairspring removed from the movement. One of the bridges has some bad marks a couple wrong screws here and there. I stuffed the movement into an old spare SS case. Next time I am at the watchmaker I will give him this one to fix up. I plan on leaving it in the case it's in now This setup will make a good sidewinder beater watch I really purchased the movement for the dial but the movement is too nice to scrap or part out If I am lucky I may be able to locate the parts to restore the movement. I have the original balance and hairspring at least that's a start. It's a shame these old pocket watches get scrapped for the gold. I seen the hunter case it was in and it was a very beautiful tri gold case with an awesome hunting scene. I offed the scrapper more than scrap value for the case. He told me he planned on hanging on to the case for awhile to see if the price of gold would go up gold went up and the case was scrapped Anyway I am happy to just get the movement.

I don't have a lever, will a small crowbar work?

Seriously, thanks!
Since it is railroad grade I'm sure you're right.
I'll check it out

Lever set, Thanks Pvt-Public!

Be very careful, or you'll end up with more. I started with pocket watches now it's both pocket and wrist watches. I'll be in over my head before I know it.

I feel your pain. It took me forever to figure out how to set my great-grandfather's Lange pocketwatch.

Not near my pocket watches, at least at the moment. Pictures of all of them in my files, but not too many movement shots. I know this thread is about American watches. I have a picture of two ready to hand. One is a Hamilton 952, 19-jewel version of the venerable 950 (and 950E and 950 B). And the other is a Swiss Brandt (Omega) grade CCR, 19-jewel which is close to the best offered by the Swiss.

Don't know about highest quality, but I've always enjoyed working on the slightly smaller movements that are sometimes used in wrist watch conversions...

Hamilton 945:

And the 921 also:

If you find them in decent shape, they can be quite accurate...
