A good friend that I went to school with contacted and asked me about purchasing this Omega Seamaster Chronograph cal 321. I'm not as familiar with this particular model and I'd like some opinions. The rice bracelet although stated to be original, looks off, and there are no pictures of the movement. My friend is considering driving to upstate New York to check out the watch, but, I'd like your opinions... not about driving to Albany, but about the watch in question.... condition, price, etc.

Thanks

Nobody wants to click on links. Either way it seems overpriced to me. I’ll let others chime in on condition

I can offer an opinion as opposed to advice or expertise. I also am starting to get interested in these but only recently.

I have that watch in my ebay watch bucket. Pricewise it seems to be retail. There aren't many around and it's cleaner than most. I ultimately decided to wait because it had been refreshed. It seems to have had a light polishing and the lume removed. Plus the lack of movement shot made me not dig in more. It's probably worth checking out more in person though. Is it a replacement dial? Seems there is room in the price too.

It maybe a decent watch but depends on whether your friend wants a collector watch or a decent wearer. As you know, the word is out on these. It'll probably just keep getting more expensive. Me, I am hoping that there is a nice one a mutual collector friend wants to unload. (Plus, I really want a 105.004 lugged one.)

I feel silly offering you an opinion as you know so much more than me. But here it is for what it's worth.

I appreciate your thoughts... and don't be so sure I know so much more than you, especially when considering Seamasters. Thanks again.

Significantly over-priced. Should be higher than they are, but I would be surprised if this went for over $3500.

I agree 100% and that was my exactly my take after reading the post.

I echo the overpriced sentiment but just wanted to screengrab this photo as I think it says more about the seller than what the watch will look like dangling off your wrist. Creepy.

I am not an expert at all but shouldn't there be lume dots at 3, 6 and 9?

Casebacks seems to be polished

No expert here, but no, this reference doesn't have to have lumed hour markers at 3,6 and 9. Though the caseback has indeed seen as polish wheel and I don't think the BOR bracelet is correct on this reference - a folded link bracelet with 49 endlinks would be more appropriate, clasp grime does not match super clean bracelet. And pending head-on macro pics I would tend to think dial too has been cleaned due to the flat look of it. The pushers are too clean for my liking (this is a matter of personal preference just like patina) and as such I would think it should not be priced above $4K at best. But I agree, these (and the 105.004 beefy lugs) are tremendously under appreciated 321s from the Seamaster line presently, so yes prices should eventually head northwards.

Thank you all for your opinions... I have relayed to my friend and also told him not to offer more than 3500 cash if he likes the watch in person.

Not that sure on the lume dots at 3, 6 and 9 (just some examples I found on the net)
