I was researching the exact same thing and found this

This has gold on the back of the lugs with a stainless caseback. It's the same ref but with different hour markers.

Yep, I reckon they're both legit. The eBay listing is probably older (you can't see the full serial number to tell) as it has 'bar' or 'log' type hour markers which seem to me a more modern style. The price of $800 sounds reasonable, I think?

It was on my "watch" list before i saw it in this thread, however, if it comes to that I think the only gentlemanly way to settle it is some form of paper scissors rock?

No, not in Genève - of Genèves! All but the one in the upper left are 36mm, and if you have the impression that I have a soft spot for this classic, early model, you'd be correct.
