Hi there, Really appreciate your input - can I ask which model the dial is from? From the serial number, looks like the movement is from 1944 but I can't figure out the dial or hands are from which model. Dial could be Geneve or Seamaster maybe but the dauphine hands, really can't find anything that match these.
For my own knowledge, why is the dial too young for the serial - i.e. when does Omega start using that type of dial? Cheers!
The dial could be from a later model or a service item. The indices definitely point to being from a later type and the logo is of the version introduced in appr. 1953. The dial will have to be from a bumper movement watch and - if it fits the case - from a jumbo case. The hands are unusual and at odds with the ref, they are probably generic replacements. Does the dial have any lume? It should have as the hands are lumed...
Hi there, Another seamaster 2657-4 currently on sale. Lume is missing on the hand, but dial looks not too bad, case is polished, asking price is currently 500€, but what do you guy think of an offer up to 400€?
I'd be interested in buying it at €500 Fantastic watch, a seriously good purchase in today's market, IMO.
@seekingseaquest and @ConElPueblo Thanks for your feedbacks. Don’t you think that the lume missing on the hands is a problem? Isn’t it too polished? « Seamaster » is darker than « Omega » and « automatic », is it common? Or maybe a redial?
Lume is missing sometimes, it happens. You can relume it if it really bothers you. I think you’ve gotten our POV on whether you should buy it or not.. and it sounds like if you don’t, @ConElPueblo would like to.. so ping him.
I do have the same watch here but ref is 2657-3 / 2494 (actually for sale but thats not the purpose of my post). The dial looks exactly the same !
