Good morning,

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum, and vintage pocket watches, so please forgive any newbie type questions!

I live in the UK, and have always been fascinated by engineering, and have been surrounding in beautfiul clocks from my family throughtout my life. In my spare time, I am interesting in learning about how these beautiful time pieces work, and be able to strip down and maintain my own vintage pocket watches.

I have recently have come accross this pocket watch for sale at an auction house local to me. I've trawled google images, and haven't come accross either the face, or the case of this watch before - does anyone recognise it?

There are no pictures of the calibre, literally only the case, which I believe is a Dennison.

It is my first purchase of a vintage pocketwatch, so wondering if this is worth an offer? There is something about it that I am very attracted to..

Thanks for your help

Hello there and welcome.

That's a nice looking pocket watch but as you've possibly realised by the lack of answers is that the majority here are for the most part only interested in wrist watches.

I've had a look through an Omega book and have found these very similar models, possibly one is fitted with the same caliber as the watch you've shown.

I can't add anything else but hope it gives you something with which to start your own research. Maybe @Tire-comedon can add something?

Those hands are amazing. Looks like cristos71 nailed it. Yours looks to be that watch, cased in open face configuration rather than hunter cased. Those kinds of dials are called “double sunk” (two recessed bits).

Very high quality and apparently uncommon 23 jewel pocket watch. Grab it.

Nothing more to add re identification, it looks to be completely genuine.

It's a beautiful watch. I also think it will be very expensive.

If you do happen to buy it, I would strongly suggest that you do not start "learning about how these beautiful time pieces work, and be able to strip down and maintain my own vintage pocket watches" by using this one.
