A beginner’s Question

The watch pictured was handed down to me. I am trying to find a reference number for it, but I can’t even place it in a decade. The bezel shows some discoloration between 12 & 1. Also between 4 & 5. So I suspect it is plated. The crystal is plastic (not sure if it’s original). It’s the lugs that have me puzzled (see pic below). If any of you experienced folks could clue me in, I would be grateful.

Late 40's? Surely others here will know more. That discoloration might just be a bit of tarnish. Maybe a case back snap shot would help the more knowledgeable here nail down the approximate year and model for ya. Oh and congrats on getting the watch!

That lug style was popular from the late 40s into the mid 50s.

Yours is either gold-filled or micron gold plated as evidenced by the noticeable wear to the edges of the lugs.

It's a snap of back so it should be easy to get off, reference number will be inside as well as the serial number from the movement which will date it within a couple years.

Thank you. I will open the case and have a look. I’ll post what I find. Thanks for the insight about the lugs.

X350 XJR is right 10k gold filled. I don’t see a valid reference number. Does that mean pre 1946.

The reference number appears to be B6629, since this is a US market watch there will be no ROW analogue, although there may be something similar.

Serial number dates to ca 1947/48.
