9300 winding mechanism issue?

recently when I wind the watch, there seems to be an instant of "slip" at the beginning of the wind (perhaps at the moment of maximum torque)

Not every wind, in fact only 1 in 10 or 15.

It also makes a tiny bit of a clunk sound in that instant.

Something to worry about?

It is highly unlikely that your watch should behave that way. Something to worry about? If your watch is still covered by a warranty, not something that should concern you, but something you should have attended to! However, if you have no warranty, it might be something you should worry about. The cost of servicing that watch is likely to be a shock! Sounds like either a broken mainspring, or possibly a mainspring bridle that slips prematurely. Neither problem being an easy one to solve!

Thanks
Just sent in my PO to have the bezel spring replaced. (Bezel had become
Bidirectional!) Should be back next week

Will likely send in the DSOM (still under warranty) to have it checked out. Just such a subtle thing that I wonder if they will "notice" it...

If it is a/ a slipping bridle, or b/ a broken mainspring, either problem should manifest itself with a reduced run time when the watch is removed from your wrist. I'm not certain what the run time from fully wound that calibre is capable of, but I suspect it should be 44 to 48 hours off the wrist. If you are getting less than that, you should advise the AD when you take it in.

the 9300 has a 60 hour power reserve,
i guess i could fully wind, set it for 'midnight' and see where it ends up

Wind it manually until you hear the sound you referred to, and stop winding right there. Set it to a reference time, and if it doesn't run the full expected period, I suspect you do have a problem. Maybe try wearing the watch a full 24-hours on an active day. And remove it, marking the time, and see if it runs the full 60 hours (or at least close to it). This would be useful information to convey when you take it in for service.
