Would love some pictures of the watch in question, especial on your wrist.

Spoke with my SA a little while ago. Confirmed it's on the way to the OB and told me he will be calling me Friday or Saturday so I can pick it up.

Appreciate this viewpoint, I also own a black and the way the light plays with the dial + the contrast with white indices is why I was drawn to it. I am considering the 75th, but I have to go see one. I think the powder blue indices will be a turn off for me, just too much blue overall so I’m afraid I’ll get tired of it. Black is timeless and on steel it provides even more eye catching contrast.

Agreed. I like the blue and the sort of gradient they've got going on both the PO and H. But the blue indices... why not a nice snow white?

100% agree. White would be eye candy and super legible against the blue. The green tempted me as well but no color as of yet has been enough of a motivator to move me on from black. That’s just me, I would need to move on, as much as I enjoy my SMP300m I do not have a desire to own 2 of them.

No offense intended to anyone that owns more than one for color variance! My preference is a different reference or brand for variety if I’m budgeting additional spend.

Collected my 75th 300M yesterday. It’s really quite fun! The way it reflects light from different angles means it looks different in every photo. And that’s not just the dial - the hands and polished surrounds of the hour markers pick up the light in very interesting ways.

Certainly seems toned down from the regular edition blue….not as vibrant and prominent bright blue.

How is the contrast/legibility with those light blue indices? It’s so hard to tell from photos, just haven’t had a chance to go see one yet.

Yes, the blue is less vibrant - it’s lighter. But it’s more interesting IMHO because of the colour gradient and how it changes depending on the light. I find the current standard blue dial 300M a bit boring personally (preferring the tighter wave pattern of the original Bond and the Bond 60th - exactly because I think the blue dial needs that surface texture to stop it being a bit flat (for me at least)).

The hour markers are definitely lower contrast than they would be if they were white. But legibility isn’t a problem.

From what you've shared, it sounds like you've already weighed the pros and cons really well. The Summer Blue vibe might be playful, but the classic elegance of the Planet Ocean is undeniable. And hey, having that extra lug width for swapping accessories is a practical plus!

You are absolutely right about the Planet Ocean. After I received my SMP 75th Anniversary, I ended up getting a PO LMLE and an 8500 42mm Ti. I've hardly taken off the Ti since and the 75th has gotten occasional weekend play time

So I went to my OB the day they received the 75th Anniversary Seamasters and ordered the Diver 300M. However I keep second-guessing myself if I should go for the Planet Ocean instead. I have picked up the phone a few times to call in the swap, but end up putting down the phone again. I'm starting to obsess..

Here's my thoughts:

The new Summer Blue motif seems a bit playful to me - not exactly what I'd consider timeless. As such, it looks more appropriate for the 300M. The PO just seems too classy to be dressed in denim.

The PO is 39.5mm and I'd prefer a 43.5 for my 7.8 inch wrist attached to my paw.

I already have a SMP 2265.80

Having another 20mm lug width lends itself to swapping bracelets/straps with my current collection.

Yet I keep wondering if I'll regret not getting the PO instead.

I can only afford one of the two at the moment and of course, it's ultimately my decision, but maybe you can point out a thing or two that will help me live with my decision on which I decide on.
Choose the one you like carefully, once you buy it you can't exchange for a return, the only exception if it's unworn and it's less than 3 business days from purchase.

I've got a 300 (heritage) 75th on order, I can't wait. For me the gem of the 300M is the Tokyo 2020.

The worst decision you can make is when you decide you can’t make a decision!

For a wrist of that size I would get the Planet Ocean

Making a decision like this can feel like walking on a tightrope sometimes. It's like our brains have a knack for overthinking things, right? Speaking of which, have you ever looked into what are intrusive thoughts? They're like those little doubts that sneak up and make us second-guess ourselves.
