Friend inherited this from his dad. I’m not going to open it up but I’d assume a Valjoux movement. Crown is replaced. I’d be interested in valuation opinions. I’m thinking 6-8k USD. Am I close?

Thanks

Nice find! Thats a Autavia 2446c MK I. I would say 6-8k for the watch itself and another minimum 3k for the rare and sought after double grain BOR! Prices of Heuer watches flatten in the last year, but are still valuable.
Movement is a Valjoux 72. It’s a snap back, so should be easy to open and show if the movement has the correct markings (which I bet).

Nice watch! But isn`t that a compressor snap back? Those can be hard to
open with just a knife😀

Thanks guys ... he had it serviced years ago so I’m not going to pop it open with a kitchen knife. . Profile says v72. Needless to say he was puzzled when he saw my reaction. (Wears an Apple Watch) ... I don’t know what he’s going to do with it.

spot on. The bracelet and end links are easily $3k...watch looks nice, I think $10k for the full set is a good price.

A very good purchase, at $10k…

Judging by the scratches, on the crystal, serviced decades ago…rather than years

It was decades but since he thought it of low value, it was rattling round in desk drawers etc ... never wore it.

It will be a nice surprise for his ‘pension fund’

Suspect the case condition is actually far better, than the ‘specular lighting’ in the images…suggests

Harsh spotlights pick up every minute graze…that the human eye does not register, in reality

Terrific find

So he says “I have this watch my dad gave me. It’s basically worthless.” ... after all this, he says, “I’ve got this other watch Gallet, is it worth anything? “ Pictures pending.”😗

Meh, I don't think pre-emptive "dibs" are valid. 😁

according to the bylaws, sub section 69, they are valid only on the 29th day of February once every four years.

Again thanks all for the support. The watch has migrated from desk drawer to safe! I have no idea what he’s going to do with it.
