6651 to 431 swap on Admirals?

Hello guys it's my first time posting here.

I recently acquired this Admiral 5 star:

I was quite surprised when I saw 36000 on the movement and the overall condition of the watch. But then I made some research and found that usually Longines reserved the 36k with watches designated Ultra Chron.

I then emailed Longines to get this response:

Originally, the serial number 18'484'648 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 1503, part of the Admiral collection. It is fitted with a Longines mechanical self-winding movement, caliber 6651 and was produced in 1977.

Now I've learned from this forum that the 6651 is an update to the 431 where the beat rate was reduced. I still don't get why my watch, and a few other watches I've googled, have 431 movement despite having 6651 engraved on the inner caseback.

Well Longines has followed through. They responded:

Please note in this period it is usual to see movements 431 in a case made for a 6651 or vice versa.

Nice that Longines was able to solve this for you, and thank you for sharing the update. 👍
That's a nice introduction. Welcome to the forum.
