50th Anniversary GMT Bezel advice

Hi peeps,

I’m hoping you can help. I owned the Bond version, but I don’t like blue watches, and the half-gmt hand and divers bezel made the watch less usable for me.

Consequently, I’m interested in the 50th anniversary SMP300GMT, but the black and silver bezel really turns me off... let me be more succinct: it’s hideous.

I know there’s a bezel mod available (there are black bezel options available from the FleaBay), but can anyone tell me what the dimensions are and whether or not the replacement bezel off eBay is an easy fit?

Secondly, how does the 1128 compare to the bond co-axial 2628? I have read that the hour wheel clutch is problematic on the 1128 (especially nowadays), but does the Daniels’ escapment make that much difference? Is the later caliber a better timekeeper and more resistant to shocks (I’m fairly rough on my watches)?

Thanks for the advice!

The 2628 is no better for any of the things you list than the 1128 is...
