When I first saw this watch (a while ago) I thought it was a fake 😁

I wasn’t enthusiastic at first, but I started to warm up to it a few years ago. Weird X-33 case (in steel) with a split-seconds chrono. Quirky enough 😀

Well, there’s that. But once you have all the Moonwatches you wanted, you start to collect the other stuff as well.

Forgive me, not ~$3k but ~£3k, you should be able to negotiate for a modern speedy, full set 2-3 years old on the bay?

yea, the number is so close to, e.g. a FOIS, just save another $1k or so for the classic.

Was the ‘Reduced’ discontinued? Maybe the name (which wasn’t a bad idea), there’s still a 38mm Auto Speedmaster in the catalogue.

I think they changed the diameter from 39 to 38 and changed the name.

But rather than saying it’s not available, they list the reduced with a price:

Maybe pre-owned or NOS?

Not a fake, but this model always makes me smile. I remember having a picture of it up on my wall back in the 90's, when I was a kid and this was the hottest new thing (I'd grabbed a catalogue from a watch store and butchered it for posters). Somehow this enthusiasm didn't follow me into adulthood though - I grew up and bought a few speedy pros instead 😉

Nice article! Wow that split-seconds is something.

3303-powered Broad Arrows can be had for less than $3k and I’m *very* happy with mine. IMO they’re quite undervalued.

Sure, but 3K USD is not 3K GBP 😀

No, that's the last known retail price. But it has been discontinued already for many years.

With postage, insurance and customs duty I suspect it's close.

I just picked a currency, I didnt mean you need to buy it from the US ;-).

Apologies

Apologies @Robert-Jan, I've re-read the thread, I hope I didn't come across as argumentative :whipped:. Different currencies may have different entry levels to ownership, even to a newb such as myself, the price points of the next next grail piece is in an upward trend.

I still want an X-33. I'm kind of kicking myself for missing a Gen2 with box and papers that went for $1350 on ebay a few months ago.

I love that these things are “cheap”, everyone seems to love the trilogy with its fauxtina whereas this watch is just awesome- I’ve seen a few here for $2.5-2.7ish...on my short list.
