I may be doing something wrong...

I've been searching the forum without finding any reference to the 4646.30.32 LE Redgold Deville.
https://www.omegawatches.com.hk/en-hk/watch-omega-de-ville-co-axial-chronometer-46463032

By my account its an interesting watch to look at so I'm curious if my technical ineptitude is showing or if this piece really hasn't been discussed?

Although I'm certajnly no guru of web searches i'm surprised at how little information seems to be readily available. (Hoping others may be able to point me in the right direction).

From what is easily findable, appears to be a 2004 model run LE with 699 released.

The photos included are from a watchuseek sale posting currently listed.(not sure if I should be linking to it's origin or not)

While I'm not a huge fan of its sale price, I appreciate the nod to omegas more vintage case style and the kind of stark pie pan dial.

I particularly like the addition of these "fins" off the lugs.
While I'm certainly not the most experienced person on this forum I've been staring at a lot of vintage omega watches recently and I cant think of any other models with this feature. (I'm hoping someone can correct me)

I'd be curious if folks are aware of similar case models that's have been produced since I don't have LE funds at this time.

Overall I think it's nice. But I don't think it necessarily does justice to the classic pieces it draws inspiration from. It doesn't quite tickle my brain the same way as when I look at one of these.

Anyhow looking forward to hearing people's opinions.

Things I like:
-The lug "fins"(is there a proper term for this?)
-I appreciate they shrunk the 3oclock Roman's to better fit the date window.
-Seems relatively well balanced despite the date window.
-I think the sub dial suits this particular piece
-The coffin shaped indices have a good set distance from the dial edge

No, I dont think you are doing anything wrong, exept not discussing anything Speedy pro related. We got tons of treads discussing every minute detail of the Speedmaster, but I have never seen this De Ville here before. In fact dess watches are seldom discussed, even thou Omega have made and makes some really beautiful watches. You just have to waith 50 years or so for this watch to be discussed in the vintage section. There is a broader field of watches being discussed over there.

That sure is a beautiful watch, I like the 50`s design and the intersting lugs. I certainly like the pie pan dial and the markers are luxurious without beeing too blingy. Since this watch isn`t practical for me and is too expensive, its not really on my radar.

I don’t think that’s a piece that would generate much chatter here. Omega makes a lot of different watches and they’re not all likely to get the forums in a swoon. Especially not a watch from an era that’s in the vague space between vintage and modern—to say nothing of one from that era that is an homage to older pieces. Not to say it isn’t a beautiful watch if you’re into that sort of thing; but I don’t know that it’s a particularly interesting one.

If you wind back the clock (or watch) 5 years or so from that one, then you arrive at a piece that was very similar stylistically, and from the same model line, that is indeed interesting, as it was the very first watch to feature a coaxial escapement.

There is some interest and discussion on the similar De Ville Hour Vision on here, but that is mostly because of the rarity of using sapphire as a case material. I bet there has been some chatter about these early DeVilles. They were where Omega chose to launch their first co-axial movements if memory serve and also the armadillo/brick type bracelet used on some in has its fans.

Make sure you are using the advance search function. Click the drop down arrow next to the Forums button top left.

Completely agree. I just lurk here for the most part, but the conversations are definitely Speedmaster Pro (moonwatch) and SMP 300 (James Bond style)-centric.

In general most people tend to drift towards sportier watches and dress watches get taken for granted. De Villes in particular seem to be very much overlooked. It's a shame. The De Ville line is under appreciated.

This is my 4841.31.32 with a similar, but larger case shape. I like the blued chrono hands that is hard to capture in photos. I don't have the watch with me, so I'm sharing the stock photo from Omega

Yea, these are nice. I went down a rabbit home last night trying to find as may models as I could with this case shape.

That looks good on the leather I also like them with these brick road bracelets.
