40's Omega cal R 17.8 - authentic black dial?

Hi there,
I just stumbled on an auction for an Omega apparently from the 40ies with a black dial and a cal 17.8.
I know the saying that you should assume a vintage black dial Omega to be a redial from the very beginning trying to prove it actually is authentic.
The problem is that the 40's are not an era I'm familiar with. I don't see any red flags besides the dial being black.
I tried to find the watch in AJTT but to no avail. I found a pretty close match concerning the dial and hands, but the case & especially the lugs were different. Then again, I found the same case/lugs but a different dial&hands on it...
Here's something I found on AJTT:

And here's the watch in question:

What fo you think about the offered watch?
Sorry for the bad pictures, it's all I have at the moment.

Thanks for your input! 馃憤
Btw: price is about 240$ at the moment but of course that is going to increase
Best,
Stephan

Is the watch in question a ck2243?
The very last thing written in my picture from AJTT means that the same watch (37mm) also exists as a 35mm version = ref ck2180 and a as a 32.5mm version =ck2243

Dial looks original, strap, buckle and box are much later.

Based on the size of an R17.8 the auction watch is probably about 32mm.

The overall condition of the watch being as good as it is I wouldn鈥檛 be surprised if the dial is original. No blatant red flags for me.

Yes it's a very nice dial design but the 32,5mm case must have held it back quite some

That was a steal of a deal. I would be happy with it even if the dial was repainted, which I don't think it was. I have a 301 but I would love a 17.8.

I look until I see this type of movement and don't look back.

Was never a fan of this style in a round case.

For what reason? I would argue the dial is the real pull factor here I wouldn鈥檛 mind what movement unless of course it was incorrect for the watch. Which I do not believe this example was.

As I said. I don't like this movement shape in round cases. It's like "let's use these until we come up with something better".

I have a few of these movements that showed up in parts lots, but never a fan of this movement

To each his own

I do understand where you're coming from. I guess I am bewitched by the dial, so I can live with an odd fitting movement. 馃榾

Despite its small size, it is very attractive. This is my Cal R17.8 sc.
Another example of how diverse patina can be on some dials, stunning, some will diss this dial but I love it 馃憤
