OK, We looked at 2013, now let's look at 2014 !!! What are your goals, what would you like to see in the New Year? Personally, I'd like to move in two directions: Birth Year, 1951 Kyle's Centenary or the equivalent (picture stolen by E. Snowden). True interest, Pre-War A large, wearable case 30t or such, in great shape and as Art Deco or Art Nouveau as I can stand it! Porcelain Dial please!! Mod's please move to "Open Discussion", I'm afraid the New Years' libations may have caused an error on my part.
3 hours into 2014 my wish for this year is that it will bring me a nice El Primero chrono! I've been very inspired by some very nice specimen that I've seen around here!
I'd like to get my '42 Elgin UDT watch serviced..... it stops every now and then, always with the second hand around the 30 second mark. Then I'm taking it swimming, 'cause thats what its meant for!
Still missing some key pieces to the Longines collection like a Conquest caliber 19ASD, a Conquest Power Reserve caliber 294 in 18ct (preferably white gold), a Golden Arrow caliber 23ZS, and a Legend Diver caliber 290. An Admiral or Grand Prize caliber 343 with the date at six, a Grand Prize caliber 352, and an Ultra-Chron caliber 430 (no date) would be the second tier of missing pieces. Of course, a 30LS chronometer would be a sweet addition too. It would be sweet to score an AP with one of these calibers too:
Same as in previous years - 2913, 2914 and 2915s in original condition and great shape plus 33.3 chronographs.
I wish for Grand Luxe/ Deluxe competitors: UG Polerouter Deluxe Zenith Captain Deluxe Longines Conquest Deluxe Of course I would not refuse any nice vintage LE Speedy and 50's Connie
Early Speedmaster 2998 ideally with lollypop / straight hand 2849 Seamaster Stepped Piepan Deluxe 14K Constellation Grand Luxe Stepped Piepan 18K Rose Gold On Bracelet Potentially 5711 Nautilus depending how good the year goes Railmaster 2914 If the stars aligned correctly CK2915 or Rolex 4-digit Daytona On the chopping block: 2225.80 Seamaster Pro Rolex 1680 Submariner Seamaster Calendar SS
This year I'm aiming for: 105.003 a good 2627 Marine Standard Marine Chronometer cal 1511 a manual wind date Dynamic One or two of the existing collection are going to have to make way...
Mrs "A" is 100% on this one, so much so suspect she has a notion on one for herself. It's not looking good, wife and one daughter now in to watches. If the other daughter picks up the infection i'm doomed
I sold off several this year (Sea Dweller, Omega Great White, Helson 45mm Ti Shark Diver & Seiko Monster mod) and saved some bonus money to build the biggest watch fund I've ever had to open up more options for me for a nice dressy watch this year. We went to Vegas Christmas week and I tried on many from Omega, Blancpain, GO, VC, AP, Breguet, Hublot, IWC, JLC, AL&S, and more. I went in thinking I'd be buying a GO Senator Panorama Moonphase, but ended up selecting the new AP Royal Oak 15400. Never thought I'd own such an expensive piece, but after trying on, the other contenders just fell short. Best I could negotiate in Vegas from an AD was 11% off, but found a reseller on another forum with a great price on BNIB with my name on the warranty papers. It should be here on Friday!
