I'm guessing (and this is just a guess) that at some point the wrong rehaut/tension-ring was installed, and damaged the outer part of the dial. Seems like a reasonable conjecture given the way that only the outer part of the text is removed. In the end, it doesn't matter. It's clear to see that the text was originally present, it's just some minor damage.

Yes, ad now the crystal in the watch doesn't appear to even have a tension ring in it...

Since omega has started making the 321 movement again, parts should be easy to obtain from Omega, unless the parts for the new movement don't fit an old movement. Simply a thought

I think the issue is whether omega chooses to sell these movement parts. So far it seems they are trying to preserve the 321 mystique and restrict parts availability.

Unfortunately not. Omega isn't selling these new movement parts to anyone.

I have some of the parts I can see you are missing, I have many 321 screws too. If you struggle let me know or if you send it to Simon I am always happy to work with him and supply what you may need.
Cheers, Michael

Thanks for the reply Michael.
This looks like a good way to move forward when I find out what Omega say about the watch.

I really have no idea if it’s cobbled together, Franken etc.
I actually didn’t realise there were so many bits missing from it until I opened up the case back again.
It sat in a drawer since i had it returned from Omega, must be at least 8 /10 years ago.

I’ve been doing some reading...
Apparently the dial is possibly a different colour and the markers are more orange than other Speedmasters. I took a pic in the sun for anyone that’s interested.

A little update.
The paperwork arrived for my Omega last week and I’m sending to Simon Freese for a service.
Big thanks to a forum member who is able to supply me with the correct parts required, there’s a few!
Im looking forward to seeing this working again.

Big thanks to Michael and to Simon for supplying the period correct parts and of course the skill in putting it all back together.
Just need a correct bezel insert now....
