Hi! I've come to learn via this website and others of the multiple versions of the 320.1327 balance complete. I'm hoping to learn some more if anyone would mind sharing deeper knowledge on this subject or pointing me in the right direction on where I could read about the differences between them.
I do see in the Folio 8 (1968) that there is a 320.1327.1 & 320.1334.1.. along with a couple other parts marked .1 and have read the remarks on them.

The image I have included is of a balance compete from a 105.002-62 and a 145.012-67. Visually I cant really see any obvious tells between the two. But if the change to the .1 variant was documented in 68, these balances could both be the same.

If one is using the .1 variants of the balance and regulator, does it also mean you need to have the .1 version of the pallet cock for things to be working properly?

Are the variants marked or visibly identifiable?

Thank you for any help and sharing your knowledge!!

Cheers

Not the whole balance cock, but the regulator needs to be changed - part number for that is 320.1334.1

They would be on the original packaging. But failing that here are the two side by side, along with their respective regulators, from old Omega parts lists:

As you can see, the configuration of the balance screws is different, so that to me would be the easiest way of telling them apart.

For the regulator, the shape of the pointer is key - here I have both types side by side, and you can see that the pointer shape is different, as is the angle of the regulating pins to the pointer, as I've sort of illustrated using the red lines:

You don't want to mix these - I've done it on the request of a customer and it was a ton of work to get the regulator centered and have the watch keep time. I won't ever do it again.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Al

Hi Archer! I was just actually writing a follow up message after I found this link last night in which you outlined a lot of this. I really appreciate your response here and also want to thank you for the all the posts on various forums such as this where you have shared so much of your knowledge through thoughtful images and write ups!

After finding that link, I started looking for the older regulators on images of early 321's and mostly spotted the pointy regulator with the newer balance (spaced out screws).
Does this mean all of these have been replaced with incorrect balances? and/or have been modified to be timed properly?
