Looking for a nice solid yellow gold watch for my wife.
Something 24- 30mm and possible to wear on leather strap.

Omega, Breitling, Longines, IWC,
Handwound, automatic, quarz - I will consider anything. Main focus is that the watch needs to appeal to her.

No real preference on dial color.

Budget is up to 2.000€

I think you need to narrow that down a bit.

Favorite brand or favorite style? Dressy or casual?

Are you willing to have it serviced?

Let me give you an example:

The Robert was the male version of a “his and hers” watch set sold by Hamilton in the 1950’s. It is solid gold and less than 30mm. The Roberta is quite a bit smaller but looks the same. So which would she like?

Getting it serviced would be fine, as long as I can make sure beforehand that parts are available.

She would like the Robert.

Currently she wears a C-shape Connie with white gold bezel.

She might like the simple and elegant design of a vintage Movado, that can be found in varying sizes. I’d suggest one that was made in collaboration with Zenith (ie Movado aesthetic and Zenith movement).

Models that are indicative of the style she likes:
Just so you are aware, all three examples you posted have refinished dials. In fact, I’d say 90% of 1950’s watches with black dials are re-dials.

The reason? Black dials just were not that popular at the time. In addition, the lacquer used at the time tended to degrade unevenly. Sometimes the results can be attractive (see @hant26 example).

If you want black dials you need to be very careful.

If you want a good black dial watch, stick with US market LeCoultre models. They made more of them than many of the others and you get a top quality Jaeger-LeCoultre movement.

Thanks mate, much appreciated!
Great input.

It doesn't have to be a black dial. She would also consider other dial colors.

How about a 33.5mm!?

I'll PM you
