·Sorry - I'm taking the risk here of elevating a post buried elsewhere to thread status. I've tried my own researches, and read @Franco's superb essay, but currently too out-of-the-money to invest in @Mac-omega's tour de force volume. Apologies if it's already been dealt with on here somewhere. 😟
"Hey, what's the problem?"
I've looked at a lot of dials fronting RG movements, but I still can't crack the code. Most say "CHRONOMÈTRE", then "OMEGA". Some though say "OMEGA" then "CHRONOMÈTRE", which really doesn't sound right. And sometimes you don't get the grave accent on the first "E" - which, unhelpfully, is more usual practice for capital letters in French nowadays. Now, I'm seeing an English-style (USA?) "OMEGA CHRONOMETER" turning up. In fact, I'm seeing some of this stuff now when I close my eyes...
Are today's re-diallers just bad at languages? Or just plain sloppy? Or what's going on here?
Please help save my family's Christmas from their daddy's expensive misjudgements! I'm grateful for help, thanks...
