The skeleton hands on my SMPc show up just fine at night. Amazing lume on this watch. Not really sure what problem you’re referring to or what an appropriate “fix” would be - other than trading in for a different model.
Agree. I find mine highly visible in pretty much any lighting conditions, given the handset's reflective properties -- no problems even when cave-diving last year. I also appreciate how precisely the skeletonization is done, allowing the indices to "peep" through the cutout as the hand passes over them. I get that it's a YMMV thing, but I really appreciate the design and craft that went into this distinctive trait of the SMP Diver.
FWIW, I have the same model as the OP.

Amazing is not the term I would use. The hands contain less luminous material due to the limited surface it can be applied to so will never compare to watches that have the full hands filled with lume.
A "fix?" It's iconic to the design of the model. If you didn't like such a predominant feature, why buy this model? If you're an overall fan of the 300m SMP, go with a older Peter Blake version with traditional sword hands.
Like this? 😉
No watch has better lume than the sword hands SMP in my experience. I like the Bond style but I think they carried the wrong one forward personally as the skeleton hands just aren't as good.
ps your non-AC says hi!
We are all still waiting for a 2254 reissue.
