I am a bit concerned that Amazon will screw up bond, but can they really do worse than the worst of Moore's stuff?
Oh No you didn`t! Roger Moore`s Bond was the Bond. Wild stories, even wilder stunts, funny and exiting movies. We waited with great anticipation for the next one to come out as soon as we had seen the last. Don`t go there Erich, don`t mess with my childhood memories. 😉

For your eyes only is a seriously wild and hilarious movie, the grittiest Moore Bond IMHO, even the soundtrack was fantastic lol. I'm a fan of all the films, but with Craig doing collabs with Omega I think we should ok since he's a huge Omega fan anyways. Either way, I hope amazon doesn't get greedy with their future colabs with movies. I've been a fan of Henry Cavill since his Count of Monte Cristo/Hellraiser days, he's in his 40's now and if he starts he'll be in his 50's but he still looks fantastic and great for the part. The other choices they brought up are great, It's a good time to start with a clean slate.

IMHO the best James Bond movie ( and Peter Sellers wore a Rolex GMT-master ): 1967 Casino Royal
Indeed a spoof but an amazing entertaining film, featuring Jacqueline Bisset, Barbara Bouchet, Deborah Kerr, Ursula Andress and Daliah Lavi.

I love some of Roger Moore's stuff I definitely loved all of his movies as a kid, even the bad ones.

I was trying to think of the worst film, and maybe View to a Kill/Man With the Golden Gun came to mind. But the reality is, every bond that was in more than three movies has some really bad movies. You Only Live Twice, Die Another Day, Spectre... not great films. hope that Amazon can do better.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a great show. Really stands out from the rest of Amazon’s IP revivals.

Im not confident about how they’ll Bond or what it means for Omega but let’s see

Its all about what you grew up with, my first Bond film was "To live and let die" that my father took me to see. Still my favorite with that wild boat chase, Jaws and exotic locations. We were always told that Connerys Bond was the best, so when we got to see them on video we were stunned of how old and simple and old timey they were. You know a bull-dozer disguised as a dragon!

"View to a kill" has some good scenes and characters like Grace Jones "May Day" and Christopher Walken as the bad guy. Was the asian with the deadly bowler hat also in that?
"Man with the golden gun" was deffinitly a disapointment, the mirror scene is the only thing I remember from that film.
"You only live twice" is maybe the start of the "Moore era" films with the far out space story, The Toyota 2000 wasn`t too bad thou.
"Spectre" was ok, the day of the dead scene was good and the film was better than " Casino Royal" with the way too long poker scene. I guess they had some backin from the online poker sites.

Amazone needs to get back to larger than life characters, wild storys, great stunts and make them fun and a bit cheesy like the Moore movies. If they combine Moore, Brosnan and Craig for a fun, elegant and hard hitting Bond in a action adventure, with out the present day commentary, that would be something to watch. A woman playing Bond? Ok, I have always liked the the Bond girls, especialy the tougher ones and there has been a few of those.

No thanks. The cartoonish Moore Bond was the worst in my view.

I disagree with anyone who thinks You Only Live Twice is poor. It’s fast paced, creative and had a screenplay by Roald Dahl. I like it.

I find Thunderball the Connery low point personally. It starts well but then turns into lots of dreary underwater wrestling.

And then they remade it in the 80s of course!

This might be the first time I find myself viscerally disagreeing with you- at least partly because I feel like throughout Connery's performance it's clear he's checked out. The Japanese themes are period funny but I don't think they aged well either.

I loved Twice as a kid, though. So there's that.

Ironically I somewhat agree about Thunderball- but it reinforces the point I was trying to make. Even Connery had some fantastic and bad movies. Pretty much all bonds did except Lazenby and (hot take) Dalton (who had one film that should just have been a period action flick).

As far as Never Say Never Again goes, there sre actually parts of it I prefer to Thunderball. It's not a great film though.

I got the feeling there might be a Bond Amazon original series pretty soon. That’s what streaming services like to do nowadays anyway. Some exclusive streaming content to lure subscribers. Maybe some cheesy woke series about how he became 007 and drag it out for a few seasons.

By the way, I think No Time to Die is a great action movie but a terrible Bond movie. 1: He knocked up a chick now he’s a father? What happened to “men want to be him and women want to be with him”? 2: He’s kicking down doors and clearing rooms? Come on! He’s an intelligence officer and a spy…

Amazon has made a few good things, and a few truly terrible ones. To be honest, I haven't really loved the last few Bonds anyway so I'm not crushed the Broccolis have bailed. I honestly think the only truly good Craig era movie is Casino Royale. I don't get why Skyfall is so praised, the third act is as stupid as Spectre's. Anyway...

I don't see where Amazon can take Bond in the modern era. If they do keep it modern, the next Bond will be an edgy hipster and the next threat will certainly involve AI - can't think of anything less interesting. They won't take any risks with the golden goose and do a pared back gritty espionage movie, or a period piece or anything along those lines. We'll get mass market appeal franchise slop. That's Amazon.

I just hope they avoid the tired "he's too old, he's not relevant, the world has changed" tropes plaguing Craig's later movies. Spies still exist, espionage still exists. Action hero world saving spies do not.

No thanks. The cartoonish Moore Bond was the worst in my view.

Completely agree. Moore was just doing what they wanted from him, so I don't blame him so much for it. Dalton was a breath of fresh air, although I honestly think Brosnan could have done just as good a job. He got sillier movies later on but as with Moore, that really wasn't his fault. He showed he could play the gritty, hard Bond when the story called for it.

Amazon owning the Bond franchise shouldn’t change their relationship with Omega. Bezos is already a fan.

I wouldn't be so sure. I doubt Bezos has any personal involvement in this type of decision, plus he's only wearing the Speedmaster because it's part of the astronaut cosplay fantasy he's living out with Blue Origin. Amazon is a soulless machine, they will partner with Omega if they think it's financially beneficial for them to do so and nothing else will factor into it.

Regarding watches, I don't think this Gold/burgundy one is a Bond 30's. As it been tolded officially ? If you want a reminder of 1995, buy a 2541 😀

Regarding movies, to love the lastest movies after Skyfall is not being a Bond fan to me. Not even a movie fan. Just bad movies with Marvel mechanics. I'm not confident Amazon will do a good job but Broccoli's family did not any more. Despite good books on the side. Like Carte Blanche or For ever and a day.

Books are already going with no Bond 00 in the Bond's World. A Spy like me for exemple. I think it's a way for Amazon to go on TV shows for decades...

Favorite Bond movies is always very personal. But for those who haven't read the books, you will be surprise to see how different they are from the movies. A spy who loved me has nothing to do with the books. The man with a golden gun is a great book ; nothing related with the movie but the title. And so on...

Casino Royal is surely the best book. And the movie is very close to the book. That's probably why it's a top one to many fans including me ; but after Golden Eye 😀

Agreed. I remember reading Moonraker and wishing that the movie had anything to do with it.

To be honest, there are quite a few stinkers in the Bond movies, and those are across all the people playing Bond. To me the Bourne movies with Matt Damon were better movies.

I can see the concerns with the TV side of it, and if they pull a Marvel kind of thing that saturates the market with content, that would be a very bad thing. Marvel has made a joke out of it all and quite honestly the I have just tuned out completely on those.

On the other side, if you look at the recent Jackal series, that was done very well. Good story, good characters, good production. To me that series was as good as just about any Bond film…

Like YOLT, That was another where the craze for space meant they dropped the original plot for something more current and cosmological. Blame the popularity of Star Wars in the case of Moonraker, or the race to Moon with YOLT. I read all the books too when a younger man. The theme about a Japanese suicide farm didn’t strike me as prime material for a faithful adaption which is why I commended R Dahl’s version. I agree some of the stereotyping hasn’t aged well, but rather better than the Blaxploitation of Live and let die I would suggest (which regardless is an excellent film IMO)

I do hope we can move beyond our first row 😉👍

Completely agree but look at how many billions of dollars those movies made at the box office. The Amazon juggernaut will extract all it can from Bond. We will get TV and spin offs and all sorts. If we're really lucky, some of it might even be watchable.

Actually, there's already a Bond video game in production from IOI, the makers of the Hitman franchise. That predates any of this, but I'm hoping that might actually be quite good, Hitman is an excellent series.

Stupid me, thinking it was some new teaser. 🙁 But it was just good ol` Daniel with his ill fitting mesh bracelet. 😉

But thanks for reminding me of the Triumph Scrambler 1200 he rode. Cool riding in the movie.

Still no oficial info about celebrating 30 years Omega x James Bond 007, Omega pushing it to second part of the year …
