·I had seen that while browsing through Invaluable. Wasn’t going to bid anyway, but was wondering how much damage might’ve been done by whatever happened to knock the crown out of whack. Just a bent stem or damage to the case tube as well?
Also, what do you think the story is with that hand on the bottom sub-dial?

··@SpeedyBirthYearWell, it's honest, but also a bit rough. Besides the worn bezel, cracked plexi, wrong crown (which seems attached to a bent stem) and the grimy lume on the dial, the hands need a bit of attention too. Whilst I'm sure a sympathetic relume would make the H/M look great, the subdial hands might be beyond salvation. Which would be a pity, especially for the hour counter hand, which is a no-nipple version in the 2998's. Neigh impossible to find.
To my eyes, this watch went roughly for what it's worth as a fair example. I hope the buyer turns this into a serious project and saves this piece for the future. 😀

·Hammer price was $9000. With 25% commission it got to 11250. Taxes 7% for Florida plus wire fees. Wouldn't be another 1/3 though because I had already included the 25% commission. Sorry that I wasn't clearer.

A weird thing, Speedmaster 101 has a 2998-5 showing the same black subdial hand!
And taking this one to Sweden would be plus 25%....🙁
