I've searched and can't see if this 2998-1 Speedy has already been discussed! Anyway it was hammered this afternoon at £14000, has issues and looks very tired - https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/...0171/lot-09544aef-cfa8-4b44-9c36-abcf00f31a4c
The pictures do hint at a brown dial, but lots of issues, Bezel, Crown, the plots look awful to my eye. Candidate for a scrape and relume? A project for someone, for sure. But I don't have too much of an issue on the price.
Reasonable price but if you want originality then you have multiple expensive parts to find not the least of which is a B1000 bezel.
This begs the question - what happens to the original bezels when they are swapped out at a service? Do they just get thrown away, or are they kept by Omega for later use? You could have a nice little side business selling on the old bezels It’s a shame with this watch; a nice bit of history, with a great looking dial but ruined by the new bezel.
