I'm thinking about buying it. Then I will live here:

Well at least the property comes with its own 'built in under floor safe' conveniently installed just outside the front door I see (I mean door space).
Wait, that is a safe right 馃槦

It's the right price. The problem is the Speedy101 priceguide from august is outdated 馃榾 馃榾

I just heard back from the seller. Apparently they are willing to accept body organs in part exchange. I just offered $20k, a kidney and my spleen.............anyone know what the going rate is for an appendix............I fear I may have to throw that in too to clinch the deal.

Told you guys...I didn't know if it was bad form to put the actual price out there, but I almost dropped my phone when they wrote back to my inquiry. Insane.

I say it's fair game. POR is lame. It's not like this is a state secret or something..

Agreed. I like the A/S guys though, so just don't want to piss anyone off. Anyways, it's out there now. Far more than the 2915's realized at Christie's last winter...

I think that for most, that price would require documented provenance, service records, original paperwork, etc. etc. IE proof, in whatever way is necessary to indicate that it is 100% original (of the parts that matter). But what do I know? I don't play in this range.

Why not push the limits....

What has happened with Speedys over the last 24 months (even last 12) if flat out crazy, and has me scratching my head.

One point of reference is the Ed White I bought in July 2015. I thought I paid a fair price, but even at that, I felt I was stretching the limits of spending crazy money on a single watch.

Now it's just pure brilliance on my part making a killer investment because I am really smart. </sarcasm>

Seriously, I don't know what to think about these prices. I fell in love with a Speedy -66 CB and would love to buy one. This would cost me way more than I paid for my Ed White. So do I buy what would amount to the most I have ever spent on a single watch? Certainly, these prices give me a newfound perspective on my Speedy buying (and selling) habits.

For that kind of money, isn't it worthwhile a trip so you can hold it I your hands?

You have an excellent point

If you are so inclined to sell a $160K watch as these chaps then have the decency to fit the right size 19mm band

I would pay that much for my birth year speedy, in a minute. If anybody has one they want to sell just reply here.

If I am a Buddhist, and believe in rebirth, what date should I use for my birth-year watch?

Gents

Let's take a step back here....

I agree , not a watch (sadly anymore) priced for mere mortals , however if we concentrate on the Watch what do we actually have here ?

Any (semi serious) buyer might request a few more pictures and if inclined , fly over to NYC to view. If they did , they might see/find out some more information that would support this looks like a fairly genuine example of a 2915-1....of course , it's 60yrs old & price may need to be addressed....but I don't believe we are looking at some back street , poor feedback , put together piece here.

HAGWE -

Best - Neil

Neil's got a point and it's certainly a lot straighter and more genuine than that 'nos' cased 2915-1 out of the speedy 50 auction

A crazy world where a wrist watch designed as a tool is worth more than a home but then value is in the eye of the beholder
