Here's another one gurus. Same seller who has been mentioned today in a different thread selling a pristine DO90 bezel. I present to you all a set of supposedly vintage NOS 2915 hour and minute hands offered for the nice tidy sum of €1500. What say all of you? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPER-RARE-...332623?hash=item25b9a4264f:g:dTwAAOSwGYVXASmQPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Yes, they certainly have been used on newer models, the broad arrow series come to mind, but brand new hands such as these certainly would not warrant a $1700 price tag.
Here is a comparison photo from @Spacefruit and speedmaster101.com. The eBay lume does look like the authentic hands on the right in the photo. Who knows?
Pop Quiz: The seller shows this photo in his auction ad and claims the hands are "vintage". Anything wrong here????
I totally saw that, but can it really be that easy? He also says there are 2 sets available when that picture shows 9.
These hands look correct to me, even if they are service hands from the 1960's. They are extremely rare and the price is not insane. If you have a 2915 with wrong hands, I'm sure it's a bargain.
Unfortunately, I have no hands on experience with 2915-1 or 2 hands. How are you certain these are from the 60's and not a later era?
Friedler was indeed an omega supplier in the 60's, so the seller could be honest. If he found a NOS set of 2915 hands, he is very lucky but it's not impossible. Of course it's hard to be sure but the shape looks ok when I examine the pictures.
Here's a pair I used to have and luminous aged. Also another pair od blued hands and notice the luminous. Both hands were/are NOS. His luminous is mint with no aging Send a real pair to China and costs nothing to make up reps DON
Agree, somehow these have sat unused somewhere for 50+ years? Even if they were made in the 60's as replacement hands for original 2915s, that would still be remarkable to find a set of 9 hour and minute hands that NOS. Lets see some lume shots!
It looks like the Fiedler card is date stamped - maybe 1965? If that is the case then they maybe they are service hands? I think that may be what Gemini4 was alluding to
It seems like that is the consensus, still amazing to have a group of 51 year old hands that are NOS.
