Hi All, Just catching up with the 321 speedy craze after a couple of years away from the watch world and boy have things changed. With the high prices these are commanding, it seems to me there is a genuine investigative work on the provenance of the parts by users on this forum. So just is case you missed it here is a dial that lasted about 25 minutes on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/262868920739Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network It could be listed on a 100k watch soon
While Del Mar is an uppity area, $16,500 for a seller with almost no history is... well, interesting.
Nothing crazy about that price. The dial is correct on a 2915-1 thru 3, I believe. Watches that are in the $100,000 - $200,000 range. And it is tropical and very nice condition. At $16,500, the seller probably left some money on the table.
Bugger. I've been looking for one of these for years. Are we sure that this one is completely kosher? The all important short hashes on the minute subdial look a bit too thick and like they have been painted in. Or am I just making excuses to comfort myself for missing this?
what would have made me hesitate a little is that the words Omega Speedmaster are clearly not centered to the Omega symbole but with a turn to the left side. This is typically seen only on the MKI dials for the 2915-1. But if it was a MK1 dial those words should be very very close to the Omega logo, which is not the case here Also the printing is very very fine lined on the originals. Here it can not be seen, but this can be an effect of the little fuzzy pics. Fuzzy pics for a 16k dial ... well, this is a little special, lets say....
Shoot. I'd have bought that dial in a minute and put it on the 2915-3 that's for sale with the wrong dial, right bezel and new hands. I'd have a $100k watch for $65k
