Great minds think alike...70/30 split work for you?

A little off topic.

Has anyone ever answered the question as to why issued watches from such historically lowly ranked air forces as Peru and Pakistan are so valuable? I understand that they are rare but rare does not necessarily translate to valuable.

I can understand RAF (1953 2777-1 for example), Royal Navy 165.024s, NASA if they were available, USAF, USN, RCAF etc.

Has Peru's air force every been involved in an international conflict? I realize some of the 1960's PAF watches could have flown in sorties vs India but still?????

Just askin.

Edit: I own a PAF 135.004-63 Seamaster/Railmaster btw but didn't pay much of a premium for it

I guess only rarity. It is an issued watch and when it is model which is in demand it just multiplies value. I would be surprised if they were ever used as tools and not only given to semi corrupt high ranking airforce officials. FAP have commanded a big premium for rolexes for years and with vintage Omega on the up I guess these will become hotter and hotter.

So many of the issued watches are in great condition...that may say something.

Very good question, one I've often thought about too. Also add to that the many Argentinian Air Force pieces from the 1970s and early '80s - not only did they operate in support of a disgusting and terribly abusive dictatorship, they were unsuccessful in their only major conflict.

I think what it comes down to is people just have a hard-on for military stuff, regardless of where it comes from.

Which is worth more, the Peruvian Air Force fleet or the value of all of their issued watches ?😀

Mine was worn by the highest ranking FAP General throughout his career. Apparently he wore it during flights, and it was on his wrists when he crash landed 3 jets...not sure if that was because he was a bad pilot or because of the state of their fleet.

They had a General flying jets? 😕

What'll be next?

I just know generals often had them from the ones I have seen. To be honest I didn’t think they flew.. 😉

...it’s because he was too busy ‘checking what time it is’...

I think there area few reasons for this, but keep in mind it is difficult to compare different watches.
But generally speaking I believe most military watch collectors are first and foremost watch collectors, which would make their motivations different differ from Militaria collectors., who might be more focused on one military or another. That, and the fact that issued and officially marked watches are very uncommon are likely the drivers of market value. My 2c
