Hi all,
Quick back story, purchased an eBay 2254.50 for reasonable money, received it and it needed a service, so sent it to omega service centre Southampton.
I wanted the full service, plus a new dial as the fitted one looked a bit aged, the work took about 7 weeks and cost me just over £800, but as you're all aware, came back brand new.
However, after about a week of wearing, I noticed something, a hair inside, it settled on the 5 lume marker and I just couldn't ignore it, see photo:

Can you see it?

Anyway, contacted omega and conveyed my displeasure, as recompense for putting it right, I asked for a new crystal to be fitted for free, which they willingly obliged to do. When they received it initially, they noticed a small chip which I had missed, but could live with.
Anyway, they said they would have it ready in two to three weeks as a rush because of the inconvenience caused, so was expecting to see it around the middle of Feb.
However, doorbell rang this morning and the DPD driver handed me a package, it was my 2254.50, brand spankers with a new crystal and not a hair in sight.
Despite the mistake, Omega put it right, with £450 worth of work for free, I am very happy, enjoying a "brand new" 2254.50 almost 20 years after it was made.
Great review of Omega Service Centre from me, and I'll definitely be using them when my 8500 PO needs a spa in the next few years.
Here she is in all her resplendent beauty:

My first "proper" watch was a 2531.80 and loved it, but the look became stale to me, so I ended up getting rid of it for a disgraceful price. I genuinely think if I'd got a 2254.50 in the first place, I'd never got rid of it.
This model is the most perfect 300M model for me, slim, tough as nails, the best lume and astonishingly comfortable. I think this will be either handed down to my son, or on my wrist when the end comes lol

That bracelet looks goofy. Like they forgot to put a tube in that end link.

That 450 pounds worth of service was not free. It should have been done as part of the original service.

Looks absolutely superb! Just a quick question, an omega speedmaster I have recently purchased is covered in hairline scratches and swirls on the polished areas of the lugs. Did this service remove all scratches etc. And come back completely clean and fully polished?

This is part of the Omega service.

Glad to hear! I wrote up a review on another forum of my service experience with Omega here in the states. Purchased my 2254.50 new. Had it for 11 years and decided to have it serviced since it does get submerged. During my service they did swap out all of my pins and collars on the bracelet. I also received a bag with all of the replaced parts, including the crowns, main spring, etc etc. Did they do that for you as well? There does seem to be an excessive gap in your bracelet? Your first picture looks OK but the second it is odd. Maybe the angle.

There should be a small gap, this is as far as I could "stretch" it.

It should be, but omega don't replace crystals for free as part of the service, except hesalite on the speedy pros.

Yeah, funny angle, but there is a bit of bracelet stretch as it's nearly 20 years old, next service I'll get a new bracelet fitted. When it came the back I got a full bag of old parts, loads of collars and pins, the old face, hands, crowns, tiny gears etc etc.

Good to hear! Just wanted to be sure it wasn't going to fall off the wrist due to something missed. The 2254.50 is my favorite watch that I own and love seeing others enjoying them. 👍

About 20 years ago, Omega at Eastleigh (Southampton) damaged the bezel on my Constellation. It's a gold bezel and they fitted a new one after I pointed it out as it was scratched very badly. There were other small issues with them but, that was the worst. I believe they sorted the very poor quality control some years later. My understanding is that they have a good reputation now.

Mistakes happen and this is sad to see - I can't see the hair originally but there appears to be something on the 12 marker now? Send it back and they will fix it, hopefully with something for your troubles. In a year or two, you'll have forgotten about this but it must be annoying at the moment.

Good luck, Chris
