………….Rolex………………Omega……….
Land Dweller - yuck. Last decent design they had was the Kermit back in 2003. I love watch design but I don’t find a single watch they make now appealing at all.
Modern Rolex designs are so bad that people thought this was an April fools joke, let that sink in.
The designs from the 50s 60s 70s were the best ever. What they offer now doesn’t compare at all to the level of creativity they had back then. But hey some people might prefer Taylor Swift to The Beatles, to each their own.
That movement looks like a significant change. It's like a technological leap.
Agree.
Also expect that no parts will be available outside of Rolex service centers. You or I could probably get our cal 7135 serviced 20 years from now, but wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for whomever we pass it down to 40 years from now.
I had dinner with a friend who is a watchmaker in his 80s. After talking some about watches, he made the interesting comment that in 50 years there will be 100 year old watches still working but no more 50 year old watches. Meaning, the movements today aren't meant to be repaired, they are meant to be tossed out and replaced with new movements.
