Should definitely be interesting. Can Max charge from the back? I hope not but he probably will because the kid is just that good
Agree he will likely finish on the podium, barring a mechanical or crash/contact incident. I do not wish the latter upon him or any other driver. That said, I hope he has a catastrophic (but safe) failure in some key component of his car, or even better, just fu*ks it up somehow to stay out of points.
I was just about to say, as long as Ferrari does Ferrari things, and Lando takes some other folks out unnecessarily, Max should be sitting pretty
The race pace of the RB19 was just jaw dropping. The Aston Martin’s pace was impressive relative to the rest of the teams. Russell was very motivated to keep his spot ahead of Hamilton and possibly take third place depending on the outcome of Alonso’s pit stop investigation. There were also some good battles for 10th -17th place. Unfortunately. Ferrari was being Ferrari again.
Checo is my Driver of the Day. George did good too, [strikeout] and we wait for the result of the stewards meeting [/strikeout] YESSSS! I do feel sorry for Fernando, not his fault and he did a very good race, except
No idea why it takes 30+ laps for the FIA to even look at a penalty being served, the Aston had the pace to pull a gap if needed but they didn’t give the opportunity unlike Ocon last race.
I have no problem with the penalty itself. The stewards just need to make the ruling in a reasonable amount of time so the driver would have time serve the penalty or to create a larger gap. It looks bad to have a driver awarded a trophy on the podium only to have it taken away from them. It also isn't fair to the driver who should have been up on the podium to collect their trophy. The decision to deploy the safety car even though Stroll pulled off into a gap in the barriers was questionable.
For the life of me, I just can’t understand why it takes so long for FIA to make those calls. It’s a terrible look. Makes me wonder if they didn’t see it initially… and maybe a fortuitous team principal nudged them to look. Either way, it was a great race and relatively drama free outside of typical FIA steward stuff
The safety car was completely stupid, even VSC wasn’t needed for that given how nicely it was parked just some double waved yellows until it was totally sorted would be more than adequate.
The broadcasters had mentioned the GPS notifying the stewards the car was still on the track… why didn’t they look at any one of the 100 cameras they had to see where the car was at? This wasn’t a good race for the stewards today
