I'm not sure how the circuit is to blame. The drivers are professionals and should be more than capable of staying between the white lines. They exceed them because it can be faster. A number of other drivers, like Alonso, proved they were capable of driving within the lines. If they can stay between the lines in wet weather, why can't they in dry?

Circa 1500 instances of cars breaching track limits is a massive problem, and an embarrassment as it's impossible to police in real-time, if there wasn't an issue with the circuit/circuit-specific regs, this figure would be minuscule in comparison like it is at almost every other track.

So the FIA doesn't have a problem changing race results after the fact...

To reserve that right, and to be able to use it when something comes to light even after the race is important, and yes if absolutely necessary change the race result; but this kind of power and intervention should be used very rarely and for the most extreme circumstances.

Reading the latest F1 news and seeing articles about Brad Pitt tells you just how far Formula 1 has drifted. I really don’t think it’s for the better.

And, of course, if we're talking fictional racing movies, we can't forget about the masterpiece, Driven.

Of course, but that one is at least not totally fictional.

F1 was lucky that they avoided working with Sly on that monstrosity. Unfortunately for Champ Car, they thought it was a good idea.

Probably one of the final nails in the coffin for Champ Car haha.

Not really a racing movie, but complete and utter fiction: Claude Lelouchs' Rendezvous:

Weekend of a Champion by Roman Polanski isn't fiction, but it's really great:

Grand Prix > Le Mans

and I’ve been in 2 cars in that movie.

also best comment so far about Silverstone.

Lando was asked who will be the fastest British driver at Silverstone.

A: it depends if Lewis can keep it within track limits.

There is also Rush 😉

This is actually quite a good movie, Daniel Bruhl is really great as Nikki without being a caricature, and the greatest compliment of all was Nikki thought it was a really great performance; Hemsworth is not great at being Hunt, but then Hemsworth is not a versatile nor a very good actor.

Actually, I think Le Mans '66 (AKA Ford versus Ferrari) is probably my favorite racing feature film; aside from skipping the vitally important Lola Mk6 GT foundations of the GT40, the storyline is fairly accurate, the fictional dialogue is relatively convincing; Christian Bale is wonderful as Ken Miles, Matt Damon is brilliant as Shelby being quite understated, without being a caricature of the man; and an honorable mention for Tracy Letts whose performance as Henry Ford II is genius, especially when he breaks into tears after being driven at full pelt round a makeshift track by Shelby in the GT40.
