I’m not going to hold my breath. F1 keeps shortening varying track DRS lengths to make them less powerful… LV is made up of straights

Yeah, I know what you mean.. Although it's so difficult to tell without seeing contemporary F1 cars actually on track; how much it undulates, what the cambers are like etc..

They are racing through the middle of the strip, its flat, very flat.

Even though it's very flat, I do quite like the idea of them Tearing Down the Las Vegas boulevard as the main straight, but it will succeed or fail on the remainder of the track, I just hope that the remainder is going to be challenging and that there'll be some interesting characteristics, that it's not all just going to be flat as a pancake just like the original Caesar's palace car park Grand Prix was back in the 80s.

Miami and LV were designed for the American IG, gulf stream/yacht crowd, who has no idea what a classic racetrack should look like. They are more concerned with outfit Shakira was wearing in the paddock pre-race. Frankly there are some awesome circuits in the US (Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America) where the the race could be held in higher regard than the Insta-Glam crowd.

LeMans and Austria this year.
Austria is 2nd July, so with a bit of planning you could take in a stage or two of the Tour de France which starts on 1st July. Seeing it from the roadside is very special -- and free 😀. When the detailed road-book comes out (should be Real Soon Now) I'll be starting a TdF 2023 thread if there isn't one already. Sadly this year I won't be going.

A traveling companion is a huge Tour de France fan. We are taking a bus tour of Spain that month, that his wife suggested to my wife. I’m starting to see ulterior motives.

This! Admittedly I've only driven them in the virtual world but they are so interesting, with some great corners and (mostly) good undulation. Sebring feels very flat but has the history and some great corners. Laguna Seca would be great...

Can't wait for the new f1 on Xbox next month just to drive the Vegas track. It looks pretty darn weak for sure .. then back to the fun tracks

They reckon the race will still go ahead but I don't know how they can be so confident. Looks awful out there.
Apparently, teams are giving up their hotels to temporarily house people that have been flooded out of their homes😲
I was so looking forward to this weekend with the first major updates.. It will be terrible if it's another Spa 2021🤦

Right thing to do. I'm glad they finally made the call now vs waiting until later in the week.

Yes, by the sounds of it, but still:

Plus it saves Ferrari from massively disappointing their fanatical home town fan base, again.
