Belated reply. Did all 5 days in pavilion at Lords. It was a crazy test. England could and should have won…again. Bairstow stumping careless. Crowd reaction and events in Long Room prompted the greatest display of power batting I have ever witnessed. Stokes was immense but it was a heroic failure…again. Very frustrating. Bring on the next test…some pics and a shot of my fave painting in the Pav of one of the best blokes ever to play the game (and up for a drink in the Bowlers Bar afterwards - an evening I’ll never forget!).

Yup. Bairstow drops could be costly. Let’s hope not. Wood looks great - hope he stays fit.

Smith drop was a tough chance but should have held from Head.
Still if you had suggested 91-4 at lunch this morning I would have bitten your hand off

Aus were always going to give some reaction to being 4 down but what an imposing innings from Marsh. Quality batting.
Yes he was dropped early on by Root (and it was a dolly!!) but he took full advantage of his good fortune.

Great 5/34 by Mark Wood cranking it upto 97mph - Aussies 263 all out. Good response from England, just let the bat & ball do the talking imo.

Love that picture of Warnie, great bloke, never shy to have a beer and chew the fat after a day's play and that's exactly what the Ashes should be about. Very fortunate to have had him as our Captain here in Hampshire - what a legend in all regards.

Honours even for the day though I think. First session to Eng, second session to Aus and 3rd session a draw (IMHO).
First session today is massive for the match. Eng need to settle in and build a score... or .....Aus need get Root and probably Stokes and Bairstow afterwards before they get going.
A good pitch and the ball is swinging so either scenario is possible.

Will be very interesting, I think England will end up with a lead, how much, who knows?

Mmm. You may want to revise that thought 🙁
