Figured I'd drop by again and show some more love to the thread. Picked up some new leather today, I know I know dive watch on leather 😜

Is that the Vintage DSOM strap? And do you have it on the 18mm deployant?

Which Seamaster has the smallest diameter?Having an Aqua Terra 38mm blue dial and a 40mm Sub I find it hard to “want to like” this new 300. Thoughts?

If you’ve got what you like, then good on you. Otherwise:

Finally had a chance to see one in the flesh. When I saw the press release, I wasn’t a fan of the crown. But, once you have it on the wrist, you don’t notice the flare of the crown. Overall, I love everything about it!

I almost pulled the trigger on the previous generation:

I currently own the Trilogy Seamaster 300:

Mach,

I waffled for a long time between the trilogy and the new 300mc. I ultimately bought the new 300mc, as I felt the trilogy might be a little too close to my trilogy Railmaster. I love the new one but I still want the trilogy seamaster. They're both very well done. If you ever want to borrow mine for a while I'm in the Boston area.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who believes they both belong in one’s collection. I saw your posts on WatchProSite. Those were the first live shots of the new Seamaster 300MC that I saw, which only made me want to see it even more!

Fortunately, WOS at the Encore Casino had one and it hasn’t left my mind since (June). SCL also had one this past Saturday. I will definitely be pulling the trigger. However, SCL is helping me secure another piece, which should land next month!

Thanks for the offer! We should meet up in Boston. BTW SCL has a Trilogy Railmaster. I've considered it multiple times. But, I thought it was a little too close to my Trilogy Seamaster 300!😀

Nice! I haven't checked out Encore yet. Did they have the bronze gold piece as well?

Last time I was there was June 12th and there was only that SS black piece that I posted. I've been to 5 Boston AD's and have yet to see the bronze or the SS blue.🙁

That Zenith is gorgeous.

I find that you gravitate towards the same watches that I do. Your pictures almost pushed me into buying the AOPA Navitimer, the Air Command, and the 1948 small seconds. You truly have a stellar collection.

Had the chance to try the blue one. I really liked it a lot. It is a really nice watch. Now I am thinking about this one or the sea Q in 39,5?
I had the trilogy in the past. It this one ticks all boxes nice tapered bracelet not to shiny. Really great

Great pix -- thanks for sharing. I also owned the Trilogy and couldn't get on with the shine, noisy rotor, wonky bezel or bracelet really, though it was a beautiful watch. I really like these new 300s -- the blue one is def on my list.

How did you find the bezel action?

The rotor was silent. I didn't notice a noise. The bezel action was crisp and solid. No back play. Much better then the trilogy.

The bezel from the seaQ works better but the watch cost a lot more.

Nice, thanks for sharing! What are your thoughts on the piece? I have one on order but it's taking some time to arrive.

It’s stunning in the flesh. But, I’m not a fan of dive watches on leather straps. I’m still looking at getting the SS in black.

Had the chance to try the black today. In my opinion the blue is much nicer in real. The black was plain and a little bit boring for my taste.

It’s nice when a brand actually has watches available to see in the flesh, give them a try on the wrist, and then make a decision. Are you listening Rolex . . .

I originally intended to get one of these as my much delayed wedding watch (wedding went way over budget). They had the old 300, the new in steel (Black only)... I loved the dial on the old one but oh boy did it sit up on my wrist. The thing has some butt chonk and I just didn't feel like I was comfortable or burly enough to pull off that kind of thing. It felt insanely top heavy to me.

The new one is only a little different in dimensions but sat closer and flatter to the wrist. I sure do wish they could have gotten this closer to 13mm & 39, though ultimately the lug to lug is doable for me. I find the face of the watch a little big, but despite that I also felt it was a little low on contrast. I am not anti faux-patina but they overtoasted that lume. The old dial was more subtle. I like aspects of both. The aesthetics of the older a bit more, the ergonomics of the new much more.

But then I tried on the new Speedmaster and it fit way better than both, the little tweaks to that really let it sit smaller and flatter to the wrist despite being 42mm. I am so against the Speedy. It is such a "me too" watch but literally everyone was like, you should get the chrono, it looks so much better on you. My wife likes the speedy too. And I did like it more once I put it on (& talk about dial contrast). I am warming up to the idea.

So I guess it will come down to either the new 300 or the new Speedy. My wife thinks I am crazy, but I have always loved watches. I grew up poor, still not bougie and have literally dreamed of this day my whole life after wearing cheap quartz watches or Seiko 5s since childhood.

The watch I really want is the Trilogy, either Seamaster or Railmaster. But they are gone where I am & can't get more. Buying abroad would slam me with import taxes. I would have to have a watch mule or a perhaps buy used from someone kind enough to ship here.

But.. I do agree these new 300s look kind of washed out in photos online and are a bit better in person, if still a little low contrast. The bronze one is hot but that is out of the budget. The Speedy and the 300 are stretching things as it is.... With both the Speedmaster and the Seamaster 300 freshly refreshed it is a hard choice (imputes welcome).
