Monument of Robert Gould Shaw - beginning of the Black Heritage Trail in Boston (bronze took 14 years to build). If you like American history, Boston is the place to be!
Robert Shaw led the first volunteer African American regimen in the civil war (the 54th regime). Shaw was a Harvard dropout who reluctantly decided to lead the troop, a job that required white skin. His reluctance disappeared as he realized the quality of men he had in his company. When he was killed in the Carolinas he was buried among his soldiers. The US government later asked his family if they would like his remains moved so he could have a proper burial, his family replied that he was properly buried amongst his men.
If I was voting this would win hands down. Best creative use of a watch. Well done
