I have the blue TiPO and that picture doesn't come close to doing it justice. Makes the blue look so flat. I know the question was about colour relative to the seamaster but still, there's nothing like going to a shop and actually trying them on in the flesh

Have you by any chance a side by side picture of your TiPO and the SMPc blue?

No sorry. I was hoping I had but can't find one. I ended up preferring the black SMPc and the blue PO. I have side-by-side photos of those, but that doesn't really help.

SMPc all the way. To me the older version had more of a tool watch feel, the newer is more of a luxury timepiece. I do wish they'd have kept the "seamster professional" inscription on the bracelet though.

The 2255.80 is also really gorgeous, but IMO would be better with a matching colored bezel. Some folks have modded theirs with a blue PO bezel and it looks awesome.

The new bracelet does indeed looks thicker, as does the watch...

Please, PLEASE find another backdrop to use when taking pics of your watches, especially if you're going to place them crystal down. Cut stone isn't a particularly forgiving medium.

And congrats on the new watch, it's beautiful!

I'm holding out....
I invested quite a bit of time and effort putting a bug in the ear of the men in charge.., and I wasn't alone...
Many of us lamented the loss of the wave dial

Something tells me that we will see the SMP with ceramic wave dial and 8500 movement at Basel '15

Well, an SMPc with a 8500 would be really thick [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Dont think that would be such a good idea; leave the beast profiles to the PO fans! [emoji6]

A wavy ceramic.... Would love to see one of those! [emoji106]

I've owned the 2531.80, and both the blue AND black versions of the SMPc (three times each

The 2531.80 has a great look once the markers start to patina...but that is all it has on the SMPc.

You could choose the older SMP versions for some of the unique features:
- 2254 for the dial and amazing sword hands
- 2531 or 2220 for the wave dial

The SMPc is better in every way:
- ceramic bezel, not the fragile aluminum
- bracelet with screw-type links
- movement (unless it's a comparison to the 2220.80 then it's a wash)
- lacquer dial is a work of art.
- blue SMPc coloring that changes (blue is my preference)
- black SMPc is a classy edition that competes with ANY black ceramic diver

It comes down to personal preference, but the SMPc is by far a superior watch to any previous SMP.

That blue is stunning. Does it come with non-skeleton hands? (Sorry, don't know the terminology.)

Can one switch out the hands for sword hands? A good friend of mine has the new one which he has offered to me for $2500 (he wants money for a Patek). It's pretty much unworn and brand new. He also bought it at a boutique so it has the 3 yr warranty, box cards, etc.

While it is gorgeous and comfortable as hell I don't really like skeleton hands. I much prefer the sword hands you would find on the older 2254 or the Electric Blue. If I could switch out the hands I think I might buy it.

Hi, you can indeed switch the hands as the 2500 and 1109/1120 share the same based ETA movement. However, since the ceramic SMP's have blue emission dial markers and hands (except minute hand, which is green) you might have to get the sword hands re-lumed to make it look better.

This is the lume of the ceramic SMP:

Where everything is blue, except minute hand, which is green. This is the lume of a wave Seamaster 2220:

where everything is green. The same green lume applies to the sword handed 2254 you are talking about, which also has everything in green.

Hope this helps.

The wish the bezel on my 2254 could be swapped out for an identical one but in ceramic.

There might be aftermarket ceramic bezels which could fit, have seen them before in Ebay, but not recently.

I could not do it. It would have to come from OMEGA.

Last night I realized my Seamaster I got for my 45th birthday in 2003 fell off my wrist at a high school football game. While it may be found, the chances are slim.

I had the watch sent in for a refurbishing a few years ago, and the pins in the bracelet had been poking out slightly from time to time. I now read on this post that Omega has replaced the pins with screws.

I have other watches, but this watch has been my favorite, and I am heartbroken to lose it.

My condolences for the loss of your watch. I hope you get it back soon if possible. Otherwise go and grab one with the latest models and they are in plenty...

Sorry to hear that; hope you can find it. If not, you can always buy another old style Seamaster and install on it the modern bracelet (1515/816) so you have the best of both worlds. Below a Seamaster coaxial 2220.80.00 I had with the newer 1515/816 bracelet. It will fit any 2531/2541/2220/2221 Seamaster, as well as some other models.
