One with and the other without date. Both piepan and both nice original black dials - one with crosshairs. In my experience, the non-date version is quite a bit harder to find in black dial form.

I guess it's easier to see it in the flesh, but it looks like the black hides the piepan-ness a bit. Do you find that's the case? Both lovely though!

Definitely harder to tell but the location of the minute hash marks usually is a dead giveaway. This for instance is a non-piepan black dial:

Seems like black dials are the hardest to verify and to locate! Gorgeous duo.

    Superb examples!!

I was thinking about perhaps making a small post about my new member of the `dark` side of the Constellation family, but I´ll get my coat instead ::shy::

Very nice, I do actually like #2 more but its interesting what you mention about non-date being rare, it almost looks weird initially as I don't think I've seen a non-date in black before.

I'm wondering... how do you tell if the markers are in WG? Simply by the shape of the markers? I heard that all arrowhead markers are made in gold, not not sure if that is true.
Here is my 14393, the only one I have with a black dial. Not in nearly as pristine condition as yours but I am happy with it cos orginal black dials are really difficult to find::shy::

A consensus among collectors also with many examples of the markers holding up better than the hands suggesting the same.
