Love my Speedy 3572.50 Hesalite Sandwich. It's my daily. Lately the clasp on my 1998/849 bracelet is popping open when I'm enthusiastically clapping my hands at sports games. Is this common?

My options are to fix the clasp closure or stop wearing it to games. I'd rather fix it. Is this something I can easily fix or do I need to take it in?

Try screaming or whistling instead. If the clasp continues to open, it needs to be serviced.

Silly question but do you ever clean it? It's spring pressure that keeps it closed, so it can get gummed up easily

No, I haven't. What should I use to clean it? I assume some kind of solvent since it's not easily accessible.

Replace the clasp spring. You may or may not be capable of accomplishing this. I've replaced mine in a 1504- 826 titanium and a 1610-930. Believe you need P/N 085ST0056.

Thanks! That looks like what I will do.

Using my watchmaker's repair kit, I took apart the clasp, cleaned it up, and GENTLY adjusted the clasp spring. It seems like that will do it. Going to a SF Giants game on Saturday to test it out. 😉 If it still pops open, I'll order a new Omega spring.

Try wearing the watch tight enough that it doesn’t flop around on your wrist. And keep it high enough on the wrist that it doesn’t slip down to the wrist joint.
