Hi all! I stumbled upon a listing for 1989 Speedy. This one is special to me b/c it’s my birth year and I don’t see a lot of these in the flesh, particularly where I live. I’ve never purchased a vintage Omega (or anything this old, for that matter), so I wanted to reach out to the community here for any/all info, tips, advice, links to other threads, etc that you might have with regards to the ‘89 Speedy. Particularly things I should look for or ask for before purchasing. I know this is a pretty general question (and maybe it’s been discussed countless times) but I appreciate it! Thanks in advance and happy Speedy Tuesday!

Maybe if you could post a few pictures of the watch members could chime in and give you some opinions about it.

How do you know it’s an 89? Around 89 has a tell on the movement.

    Also pictures...

Seller is trusted, so I am confident it’s an ‘89. Here's the only pic i have at the moment, but I will try to get a few more from the seller. Thx! IMG_8494.jpg

It’s virtually impossible to date an exact year in that period.

Dial is a C4 1988/89-1991 so that dates it better then the movement trick.

I would say there’s a discrepancy here for it to be a -89, the dial is a tall and close S like mentioned above but the bezel is a newer one starting from 1990/91 and seen to 1995. So i’m not sure this combo is correct for a late 89 model, as it should have the narrow C and big letter TACHYMETRE bezel if you ask me.

Needs a correct bezel, but beautiful watch.
    What’s the asking price?

What exactly does ‘seller is trusted’ actually mean? I have seen that phrase a few times recently often from new posters. Trusted by whom? Be aware that in earlier cases that trust was occasionally misplaced.

Thx for feedback. I’ll look into that. Do you have a link to a good photo of a proper ‘89 I can compare to?

Can you explain more? Or are you mirroring @JanV’s thoughts? Thx!

    $4700. Thoughts?

It should have the same bezel as this one. 4700$ sounds a high, I think you can find older and correct ones from the Private Sales in here for less.
