Good day.
My son has just been gifted his grandfathers retirement watch. No marking on the case as it was engraved for his retirement in 76.
Its a manual date, Geneve. So i need parts as it looks very tired.
New strap. Black leather.
New crown. Old one is missing
New crystal.

And thats before i open it and find god knows what else. This is not an expensive watch, but there is no value to be put in a family handed down watch, is there. As a collector of watches i know that sometimes the work and parts exceed the value. This does not matter with this one.

Nice way to get a vintage watch mate. It'll be a great reminder of his Grandfather every time he wears it.

Before he does, we need some info, like pictures maybe, and your location.

Cheers

Very nice gift. It's probably a Ref.1360104 with a Cal.1002

Or a Ref.136070 with a Cal.613

Great that you are bringing it back to shape. Family Watches are the best.👍

I gave it a small and gentle shake. Sometging sounds loose. May be the movement due to the missing crown wheel and pin. I sure hope thats all it is

With respect, if you need to ask that question, don’t open the watch.

What you are looking for is an Omega qualified independent watchmaker to service the watch. Do a site search here or let us know I f you need a recommendation for a watchmaker in Croatia. @alexkovac88, any reccomendations?

Are you going to service the watch yourself? If not, then just give it to your watchmaker and perhaps he can find an appropriate crown and crystal as he services the movement.

Hi guys. No way would i attempt to do any of the work. I was wanting to order all the parts and then take to a watch guy. I live near Split in Croatia. I am sure there are many artisans here who would happily work on it. Any recomendations are greatly appreciated. I hate having a watch that does not work. And espescially a watch of sentimentality.

Most good watchmakers who work on vintage stock some parts themselves and are accustomed to ordering parts from a network of suppliers. And obviously, they know how to determine exactly what parts are needed. So I would find a watchmaker before going to the trouble of searching for parts yourself. Unless you are an expert, it will take a lot of time and effort for you, and you might order the wrong parts.

Unfortunately, I don't have a specific recommendation, but hopefully someone will contact you, or post a suggestion in the thread.
