Just sharing a new-to-my-collection watch, only my second Omega.

I know these quartz watches don't get a lot of love around here, but I quite like the look of this one, especially mounted to leather. It appears to my untrained eyes to be perfectly original---even the signed crystal. A nice complement/contrast to my 1965 Seamaster 600 with the black technical dial. (That one is currently in watchmaker limbo because of the pandemic.)

I wasn't expecting this to be quite so heavy and chunky, but I like that---it feels substantial without being one of the hubcaps you see for sale at the mall kiosks.

If you've ever tried to date one of these movements then you know how f*&#@ing tiny the serial number is! Wow. Sorry for that particularly crappy photo, but understand it's via iPhone using an off-axis flashlight and photographed through a magnifying glass. The 37xxxx puts it at 1973, unless I'm mistaken. I believe, then, that this is an example from the first production year of that movement, which ran from '73-'78, but I'm happy to be corrected.

Seems to be keeping excellent time, which feels right to expect of a quartz watch.

Anyway, figured folks here might appreciate it.

Should add: I welcome any and all commentary if there’s something I’ve missed (or misdiagnosed). I am still very much a learner here. And I didn’t pay $$$ for this, so you won’t hurt my feelings. 😀

Nice pics.

I’m starting to see these as the Ferrari Mondials of the Omega line. 😀 Not the most prestigious or aesthetically pleasing models, but historically important and definitely better than most of the other stuff you’ll find out there at a similar, budget-friendly price. And like I said, I, for one, really do like the look of them—I like the Mondial, too. There’s no accounting for taste!

I love mine and don't consider them in anyway shape or form as 'inferior to mechanical watches, just a different type of technology. I am happy that they are relatively cheap compared to mechanical watches, the difficult thing is to find them in good condition. It was actually the first omega watch I bought. Probably could have got a good vintage speedmaster for a few quid more.
