    Good morning, my friends,
here are 2 photos of a 1972 Constellation Electronic f 300 I want to buy. Does it look legit? Is it all right? Is it a watch worth having in an Omega collection? Please let me know, your advise is highly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I'm no expert on the model, but it looks correct to me. The crystal has a crack, and should be replaced.

Your last question is totally subjective (e.g. many collectors shun electronic watches), and is also dependent on price.

Yes, you are totally right, in effect I'm a fan of vintage electronics, as I already have an f 300 Speedsonic, but I'm completely new to Constellation and I want to understand if the watch is OK, as the request is not very low, at about 500 EUR.

The price seems high for a f300, especially considering the condition of the watch. I do own one and purchased it from from another forum member at a lower price and better condition. I'm not knowledgeable enough to assess your watch's value. You need also to consider the cost of the service by a specialist trained on these particular movements. Calling @Tom Dick for opinion.

Do you find it in bad conditions?

It doesn't seem bad at all. The crystal needs to be replaced as someone noted. There seems to be specks on the dial (or could be on the crystal).

The date wheel should be checked. I don't know the specifics but I hear they can be damaged during setting in some instances.

Here are period advertisement for f300 watches. Although possibly not the exact same model the crown looks different.

Personally I've seen better for that money especially considering the dial - it's still relatively easy to get very clean dials of that age without spotting.

Be aware that your servicing options may be limited if you are outside the UK. I think that one is fine but I would want it at nearer €300, maybe €350 tops IMO. For further info on the various hummers see:

I'm offering him 300 and a not working Accutron Spaceview, is this too much?

Thank you all very much, this the true style of a forum of gentlemen, due to my sound ignorance and relying on your much bigger competence I decided to change my offer towards this watch. Thank you again!

Looks nice! I think the price is about right, but as noted above, you should factor in potential service costs in your offer. If nothing is needed, you got a great price. If there are additional costs, you have some cushion.

The seller says that the watch runs perfectly, so I think that for now it won't need any particular service. All is about understanding what can be the right price to offer.

Take all sellers claims of "running great" or "just serviced" with a grain of salt unless they provide actual proof. I can't tell you how many watches I get in for service that were described this way that were barely ticking and hadn't been serviced in decades. Budget for a service in your offer, and if it doesn't need it then consider that a bonus.

    Cheers, Al

If you are purchasing a vintage watch then assume it will need service, even though it appears to run correctly.

+1 on assuming that it needs a service, and have your offer price reflect that assumption.
