    Hello fellow OF gurus,

I was in a rush the other morning and after winding the watch, pulled the stem to set the time. It was stiff, so I tugged a bit too hard and pulled the stem completely out of the watch. Argh.

Stem easily goes back in, and will wind the watch, but it won't stay in, and won't set time or date (won't engage those positions). I assume I have to visit my watchmaker, but thought I'd first ask here about DIY stem replacement tips for a cal 1001, fully aware that they are not our favorite Omega calibers.

Any help is much appreciated, so a huge thanks in advance!
(I'm in the SF Bay area, FWIW)

Definitely a job for your watchmaker.
The winding pinion/clutch/setting wheel parts may have come adrift in the movement thus the inability to do anything. The original problem of the stem coming out may be due to a loose clutch lever screw.

Try not to shake it too much in case the bits migrate around in the movement.

    Get thee to thy watchmaker.
