Apologies for originally putting this in the eBay thread. Still learning the rules.

Am I missing something on this one? It doesn’t seem to be getting any attention. I’m not looking for a collectible per se se, really just a nice “dress” watch to tweak on special occasions.

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

Let's compare to another of the same. Case back shows 165 041, so we Google 'Omega 165.041' and click through to image search.

Here's the first image that pops up, it's from the shuttered poshtime.com:

Looks legit, I wouldn't swear by its authenticity, but good enough for this example. So let's compare it to yours.

The watch I posted has its gold plating intact, and actually looks plausibly gold plated. The one you posted has either lost most of its plating, showing the steel beneath, or all of its plating, and been given a very thin, very yellow coating of "gold."

This should be enough to turn away, but let's keep going.

The crown on yours is worn. Not a huge deal, but it should be replaced.

The lume plots on the one I posted are intact, and sit nicely upright at the end of the dial indices. On yours, they look melted. Lume from this era should be tritium based, and while you could convince me that older, radium lume would melt like that, I don't buy it. It's likely this was relumed at some point in the past, possibly a long time ago, without attention paid to detail. In any case, the lume plots on yours are not attractive.

Lets see what else... spots on the dial (damage), movement looks dry, case back may have been repolished.

Ok, enough criticizing the appearance. What does this heap cost? 300 pounds!?!? That's almost $400. You can get a very nice Geneve, in full stainless no less, for the same price. This is not an uncommon watch, pieces in very good condition come up for sale often, this purchase makes absolutely no sense.

So to answer, why isn't it getting attention? Look at the comparables. This watch doesn't deserve attention.

If you haven't yet read it, please familiarize yourself with the Learn How to Fish thread at the top of this forum: https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/

You might also want to keep an eye on the Private Sales forum here, as the pieces offered here are generally of much better quality: https://omegaforums.net/forums/private-watch-sales/

I hope this helps! Best wishes!

Tired entry-level piece, not worth the starting bid.

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation. I did read the Learn How to Fish Thread but apparently need a refresh!

Really appreciate your feedback on this.

Watches in the UK tend to be more expensive than in day the US, certainly at the minute. However, even bearing that in mind, this is an entry level watch as @Dan S says in very average condition. No one will be slugging it out to win this and will likely either end with a single bid, or be re-listed.
